WavePark Mentawai Surf Resort is the original full service land-based surfing resort in the Mentawai Islands, West Sumatra, Indonesia. Their all inclusive price includes a private chartered speedboat transport from mainland Sumatra to Mentawai and return, guided surfing and fishing speedboat service, 3 meals a day, drinks, snacks and accommodation on the island. With a maximum capacity of 12 surfers, the WavePark Mentawai surf resort guests have the entire island for their exclusive use.

Located in northern Mentawai near the Playgrounds anchorage, there are 21 different waves to choose from. WavePark have designated beginner, intermediate and advanced waves and they are proud of their extensive knowledge of secret Mentawai waves as well as Mentawai weather conditions; built up from their combined 20 years of experience hunting waves in the wave park area. With unrivaled speed and comfort between lineups WavePark offers you better surf, more often with less crowds.

Airline Surfboard Policies

Below are the policies of various airlines relating to the carriage of Surfboards. These policies are set out by the airlines involved and are subject to change at any time by the individual airlines – with or withour notice. Every effort will be made to keep this information up to date, however this should be used as a guide only.

Airlines insist that all fins be removed and that the boards are packed in board bags. It is also recommended that you check in as early as possible for your flights incase additional fees are payable at the time of checkin. For any questions relating to the airlines surfboard policy, please contact the airline involved directly.

Air Asia allows you to prepay for your checked baggage to obtain a saving. In addition to this, they also have a Sports Equipment fee – this fee cannot be prepaid and must be paid at the airport at time of check-in once your bag has been weighed. Approx cost for the Sports Equipment Fee is AUD35 for up to 15kilos. If your board bag weighs in over 15kg’s then every kg over this is charged at AUD10 (or equivalent) . Sporting equipment such as surfboards must be carried as part of your free baggage allowance of 20kgs. If you total baggage weighs in over 20kgs, then the following charges may apply:

One small surfboard not exceeding 109inches (277cm) is charged at 5kg of excess baggage.
One large surfboard exceeding 109inces (277cm) is charged at 8kg of excess baggage.
Excess baggage is charged at approx USD5 per kilo.

Bulky items (maximum 1.9 meters for Jetstar flights operated by an A320, A321 or B737 aircraft and 2.77 meters for Jetstar flights operated by an A330 aircraft, click here to see the aircraft type by route) including but not limited to bicycles, surfboards, skis, golf clubs, snow boards, may be included within the 20kg allowance, subject to space availability. Please ensure that all bulky items are packed appropriately before being presented at check in. For further information on this click here. Passengers who anticipate having bulky items or excess baggage should arrive at the airport to check in 3hours prior to the scheduled departure time for flights operated by Jetstar (JQ) departing from an international terminal. flight.

The airline advised that surfboards are part of your checked baggage allowance ie; 20kg allowance per person for all your luggage. If you weigh in over 20kilos then it is at the airlines discretion to charge your excess baggage at the rate of $25 per kilo over your allowance. If you prefer to have your surfboards flown over as cargo, please contact Malaysian Airlines directly for further information.

A standard charge of 6 kg will be applied on the surfboard if its weight together with the customer’s other checked baggage exceeds the free allowance (20kg) entitled to the customer. This will apply up to a maximum excess of 15 kg, after which the normal excess baggage charges will apply. This special charge is only applicable to one surfboard per customer. Any additional surfboards shall be charged according to the standard excess baggage charges. The surfboard must be properly packed for transportation. Airlines do not guarantee the carriage of surfboards, but will do all possible to ensure they travel with you. It is recommended you check-in as early as possible. If you are travelling with surfboards on a Virgin Blue domestic flight, you will be eligible to check-in an extra 5kg of baggage allowance free of charge. This additional allowance is allocated above your purchased checked baggage allowance. Excess baggage charges will apply once the full allowance, including the additional 5kg allowance, has been exceeded.

If you are travelling with surfboards on an international flight, your baggage allowance will not be increased, but your Sports Equipment will represent 5kg of your baggage allowance (regardless of the actual weight of the equipment). Ie; you baggage allowance is 20kg and excess baggage charges will apply once your total baggage allowance has been exceeded.

Please always carry a copy of your E-ticket with you. This will either be emailed or sent to you with your travel documents. If it is emailed, please print and take a hard copy with you. You may be required to present this document at the time of checkin or to Immigration authorities.

Passport Validity

It is important that when booking your travel, you ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months at the time you return to Australia. If this is not the case, you can be denied boarding at the airport.

Lime Travel will require a copy of your passport when booking an international trip so this information can be recorded in the airline system.

Contributions can be made via phone or email. Payments can be made by Bpay, direct deposit or cheque. Credit cards are also accepted with a fee.

Lime Travel will provide the inserts for your invitations, advising your guests that you have a Honeymoon Registry. Lime Travel will also supply guests who contribute with a gift card they can insert into your wedding card to advise they have made a contribution.
