For the first time Qantas Frequent Flyer members will be able to earn points and status credit when travelling on Jetstar flights.   Also being introduced today are some new Jetstar fares where StarClass fares are replaced by new Business class fares and new ‘Plus Bundle’ or ‘Max Bundle’ options are available which offer the frequent flyer benefits.   These new ’Bundles’ give flexibility to travellers and allow for extras if required eg; points and status credit, seat selection and free changes.  The new Business class fare on Jetstar will allow for optional extras with the opportunity to earn Qantas Frequent Flyer Points and status credits at Qantas business rates.

If flying on Qantas flights, cabin bonus have also been increased from today for .  Gold and Silver status bonus points will also increase, with the Gold bonus increasing from 50% to 75%, and Silver going from 25% to 50%.

Top tier frequent flyers will also see improved benefits with the introduction of a new “Platinum One”  classification with exclusive benefits.

As well as a new partnership with Optus, Qantas Frequent Flyer have other initiatives  under development too.

4 nights in Fiji is not long enough, but I’ll take what I can get.  We travelled with Pacific Blue and after only a 4 hour flight from Sydney its not long until you land in paradise.  This low-cost carrier was pretty good with food, beverage and entertainment all extras once you are on board.  Being a movie buff, I paid the $10 for the Digiplayer, and was able to get in two movies each way.

For this quick trip we decided to stay at the Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa a fairly new resort at only two years old and about 45 minutes drive from the Airport along the Coral Coast.   As we were only staying a few nights, I decided to splurge and stay in the Intercontinental Club where the rate has many inclusions: daily breakfast, tea/coffee/soft drinks/water all day, afternoon tea, evening cocktails and canapes just to name a few of the benefits.  The Club also has its own pool for guests to use, otherwise you can use one of the two other pools that the resort has to offer.  Some of the Club rooms also have their own plunge pool which is also a nice extra if the budget allows.

All rooms at the Intercontinental are pretty much the same layout and have a twin spa bath and day bed located on the veranda – very unusual to have the bathtub outside, but it is also very private so you don’t need to worry about prying eyes.  Throughout the resort there are three categories of rooms: Gardenview, Lagoonview and Beachfront rooms – all the same inside, it is just their location.  The rooms are very modern and tastefully decorated in a minimalist feel – just what you need to relax.

Horse-riding on the beach, snorkeling, day trips and more can all be enjoyed at the resort along with all the usual features of a 5 star resort; restaurants, bars, child minding, gym, spa and golf.  Or you can just do nothing!  5 stars!
